The ever-changing
weather could prove uncomfortable for many households, and that is
why it is important for them to have an efficient HVAC system. While
constant repairs or replacement can wreak havoc on your budget, there
are things you can do to avoid such. If you stick with the kind of
maintenance it requires, you can effectively increase its service
life.
Check the Filter
As you go through the
cleaning process, don’t miss out on the important parts such as the
filter of your heater, AC, or vent system. Have the owner’s manual
handy so you can safely clean and remove the necessary parts.
Additionally, there are cases when you can simply opt for washing the
filter instead of having it replaced.
Condenser Fans
If you have a central
air conditioning system, see to it that the outdoor condenser fans
are working properly before each cooling season starts. Remove the
fan blades and the fan grill and brush off the debris. Wash the
remaining dirt with a garden hose before you place them back on the
unit.
Away from plants
To keep your AC and
heating units away from trouble, they should not be placed near
plants. Ideally, the vegetation needs to be 2 feet away from the
unit. As you mow the lawn, the grass clippings should not slip
through the slits of the unit. When fall comes, make sure that there
are no leaves on the fan grill.
